WW: Hello, this is Jimmy Tickey of www.wildwritings.com. How
are you?
KT: Hi Jimmy, I’m great! Glad to do this interview with you. Let’s
get started.
WW: Tell us a little about you, your life?
KT: Well, I’m from Glennville, GA, a very small town near
Savannah, I just turned 16(finally I can drive!!) I have 3
brothers and sisters-an older brother who’s 19, a younger
sister who’s 12, and a younger brother who’s 7. I love to
sing and record music, but I really love to perform in front of a
crowd. It’s really awesome hanging out with my friends
and doing crazy things like making funny home videos.
I really enjoy eating chocolate ice cream! Haha and
I love to shop, especially in NYC!
WW: When were you first interested in music as a
career?
KT: Well, I’ve always sang whether it be at church
or school or wherever, but I never really though of it
as a career until I was on American Idol Juniors. It
was just so much fun to perform on that stage and
I knew that was what I wanted to do!
WW: How old were you when you auditioned for
American Idol Juniors?
KT: I was 13.
WW: How did it feel for your dream to become a reality each week on TV?
KT: It was so awesome! Being able to perform on national television each week in front of so many people with judges like Gladys Knight and Deborah Gibson was definitely a dream come true.
WW: What's your best memory about American Idol Juniors?
KT: Probably performing each week and just hanging out with all of the other kids. We all had such a great time and it was really cool to meet other kids that wanted to do the same thing you did.
WW: Who are your musical influences?
KT: Well, I grew up listening to Christian singers like Joy Williams, Jaci Velasquez, Rachel Lampa, so they really influenced me—but I also love singers who can really belt it out like Whitney Houston , Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson. - they also influenced me.
WW: How would you describe your music?
KT: My music is just really fun and positive. It’s not angry or depressing or anything like that it’s just fun to listen to and sing along to with your friends.
WW: What do you hope people walk away with after they listen to your new album?
KT: I think people will just wanna have fun when they hear the song “Wonderful Crazy”. And that they can relate to songs like “ Something In Me” which is a song about a young person reaching for their dreams. Of course, everyone can relate to “Undeniable” and “Rain” that feeling you get when you see that cute guy for the first time. I just hope people will like it!
WW: What can we expect from you in the future?
KT: Shows with Radio Disney, Seeing me at the American Music Awards (can’t wait!) a music video, and more shows, more shows, more shows! I love performing and I hope to see everyone out there!
